Yaron Hasson

Yaron Hasson is widely acknowledged as a leading Israeli guitar player, and as one of Israel's unique musicians and artists.

Born in Israel to a Yemenite family, Yaron has inherited a profound musical heritage which comes to life when he performs his own music, and when he performs major works for guitar by other composers. As a teenager, he attracted the critics' attention for his unique dominion of the guitar, and his distinguished melodic inclinations and lyricism. Yaron has performed in many festivals, including the Israeli-Spanish cultural week (1989), to which he was sent alongside the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bat-Dor Dance Company as a representative of Israeli musical life; he has also performed in festivals in Liege (1989), Cordoba (1990), Rychnov (1995), Tel Aviv (1999) and Abu Gosh (2000). He is also regularly invited to the national guitar festival in Israel. He has performed as a soloist with major Israeli orchestras and has won the America-Israel Cultural Foundation's scholarships for 10 consecutive years.

His recordings include recitals for the IBS since 1989, and two CD's: one featuring miscellaneous compositions (ODA Records, 1994) and another of Hasson's own compositions (ZUTA, 2000). Yaron Hasson is a graduate of the Performance Department at the Royal College of Music, London with an ARCM qualification. In the same year he was the first prizewinner of the Israeli national guitar contest.
